Where to start
There is no single right way to ask for help with ADHD
Some people arrive here knowing exactly what they want. Others have been going round in circles for years, are exhausted, and are not sure what kind of support they are even looking for. Both are completely reasonable places to start from.
To make this simpler, we have set out the two main routes below. You do not have to be certain which one fits — a free 15-minute consultation is a good place to think it through with someone, without committing to anything.
Many of the adults who come to us for ADHD support are not in crisis. They are tired, often quietly, of being told they just need to try harder. You do not have to have it all worked out before you reach out.
Two clear routes
Which kind of ADHD support are you looking for?
Choose the route that fits where you are. If you are not sure, the consultation is the place to work it out.
Ongoing support
ADHD Counselling
Therapeutic support for the things that often sit alongside ADHD — anxiety, a long-standing inner critic, burnout, rejection sensitivity, and making sense of a late diagnosis. With a counsellor who understands the ADHD context.
- You want to work on the emotional layer, not just practical strategies
- You do not need a diagnosis to begin
- Ongoing sessions, online UK-wide or face-to-face

Alongside assessment
ADHD Assessment Support
A shorter, structured programme for adults who are pursuing or awaiting a formal ADHD assessment. A space to make sense of the process, the waiting, and what a diagnosis might — and might not — change.
- You are on a waiting list or considering assessment
- You want structure rather than open-ended therapy
- A focused four-session programme

If you’re not sure
You don’t have to choose the right route on your own
Plenty of people start in one place and find another fits better. Some begin with assessment support and later move into ongoing counselling. Some do not need either yet — they just want to talk it through with someone who understands ADHD before deciding anything.
That is what the free consultation is for. It is a brief, low-pressure conversation, not a therapy session, and there is no expectation that you arrive knowing what you want. If a phone call feels like a lot, you can ask to do it by email instead — that is a completely reasonable adjustment to request.
A note on what we don’t do
We do not carry out ADHD assessments or formal diagnoses, and we do not prescribe ADHD medication — that work sits with specialist clinicians, usually a psychiatrist. We also do not provide crisis support or support for active self-harm or suicidality. If you need urgent help, the resources at the bottom of this page are the right next step.
What we do offer
A team of 90+ qualified therapists, many experienced with ADHD, offering sessions online across the UK and face-to-face across 20+ counties in England. Reduced-rate sessions may be available with one of our trainee counsellors — if you are matched with a trainee, you will be told clearly before sessions begin, in line with professional ethical standards.
A note on confidentiality: Sessions are confidential. There are limited circumstances in which this may need to change — for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where we have a legal obligation to disclose. Your therapist will explain these limits clearly before you begin your work together.
Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to get support from you?
No. You do not need a formal diagnosis to work with us. Many of the adults we support come before a diagnosis, while waiting on an assessment, or after deciding not to pursue one. What matters is that the support feels right for you. Your free 15-minute consultation is a good place to talk this through.
What is the difference between ADHD counselling and assessment support?
ADHD counselling is ongoing therapeutic support for the experiences that often sit alongside ADHD — anxiety, self-criticism, burnout, processing a late diagnosis. Assessment support is a shorter, structured programme for adults who are pursuing or awaiting a formal ADHD assessment and want help making sense of the process. The two are different, and the consultation is a good place to work out which fits.
Can a counsellor diagnose ADHD or prescribe medication?
No. Counsellors and psychotherapists do not diagnose ADHD and we do not prescribe ADHD medication. A formal diagnosis and any medication decisions sit with specialist clinicians, usually a psychiatrist. We can talk with you about what the assessment pathway involves.
Is ADHD support available online?
Yes. All our therapists offer sessions online via secure video, UK-wide. Many adults with ADHD find online sessions remove a lot of the executive load that comes with travelling to an appointment. Face-to-face is available across 20+ counties in England.
Is ADHD support confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential. There are limited circumstances in which this may need to change — for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where we have a legal obligation to disclose. Your therapist will explain these limits clearly before you begin.
You don’t have to know which route is right before you reach out
A free, no-obligation 15-minute conversation. No pressure, no script — just a chance to be heard, ask questions, and see whether we feel like the right fit.
