Why this programme exists
The wait shouldn’t mean silence
An ADHD assessment referral is a significant moment. It often comes after years of struggling — of wondering why things that seem easy for others feel so hard for you. And then you are told the wait is eighteen months. Maybe two years. Your GP means well, but there is nothing more they can do right now. You are in the queue.
That gap — between recognition and diagnosis — is often one of the hardest periods. Questions that have been forming for years feel suddenly urgent. The relief of having a name for your experience sits alongside grief, frustration, and uncertainty about what comes next.
This programme is designed for that period. It will not give you a diagnosis — that is not what it is for. What it can offer is a structured, professional space to understand yourself better and develop practical strategies for the challenges you are facing, whatever your assessment eventually concludes.
This is a private therapeutic support programme. It has no connection to your NHS referral and will not affect your position on any waiting list.
The Programme
Four sessions. One clear purpose.
Each session has a focus. Together, they move from uncertainty and exhaustion toward understanding, practical strategy, and readiness — whatever your assessment eventually concludes.
ADHD Assessment Support Programme
A structured therapeutic support programme for adults navigating the ADHD assessment pathway. Delivered online by ADHD-experienced therapists. Available across England.
From £280 · four 50-minute sessions · no hidden costs
1
Making sense of your experience
The first session is about you — your story, your patterns, the things that have felt hard and why. We explore what ADHD looks like in your specific life, including the traits and experiences that have been most significant. There is no checklist and no judgement. This is space to be heard, often for the first time.
2
Practical strategies for daily life
The second session focuses on the challenges you are facing now — executive function, time management, task avoidance, emotional regulation, or whatever is most pressing for you. We develop practical, personalised strategies drawn from evidence-based approaches including CBT and ACT. These are tools you can use immediately, regardless of what your assessment finds.
3
The emotional landscape
ADHD is not just a cognitive experience — it carries an emotional weight. Shame, self-criticism, rejection sensitivity, grief about lost time, anger at systems that missed you. The third session creates space to work through the emotional dimension of your experience, including the complex feelings that can accompany a potential late diagnosis.
4
Preparing for what comes next
The final session looks forward. We consolidate what you have learned about yourself, review the strategies that have been most useful, and — if your assessment is approaching — help you prepare for the process itself. We will also discuss options for ongoing support, should you want to continue after the programme ends.
Our Team
Who delivers the programme
Sessions are delivered by qualified, professionally registered therapists with specific experience working with adults with ADHD and neurodivergent presentations. Our therapists hold registrations with recognised UK professional bodies — including the BACP, NCPS, and BABCP — and work within their respective ethical frameworks.
We match you carefully based on your specific circumstances, not simply on availability. Our therapists bring approaches including person-centred counselling, CBT, and ACT into their work with ADHD clients, with a neurodivergent-affirming ethos throughout: ADHD is understood as a neurotype, not a deficit, and support is built around your strengths as much as your challenges.
A note on confidentiality: Sessions are confidential. There are limited circumstances in which this may need to change — for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where we have a legal obligation to disclose. Your therapist will explain these limits clearly before you begin your work together.
If we are not the right fit
If we feel we are not the right fit for what you need, we will say so honestly during your free consultation and help you think about where else might be appropriate. We will not recommend the programme unless we genuinely think it suits your situation.
What this programme is not
This programme does not provide an ADHD diagnosis or assessment, and we do not prescribe ADHD medication — that work sits with specialist clinicians, usually a psychiatrist. We also do not provide crisis support or support for active self-harm or suicidality. If you need urgent help, the resources at the bottom of this page are the right next step.

Your Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a formal ADHD diagnosis to access this programme?
No. This programme is designed for people at any stage of the assessment process — whether you have been referred and are waiting, are seeking a referral, or are exploring whether to pursue assessment at all. A formal diagnosis is not required to take part, and starting the programme will not affect your NHS referral pathway.
Will this affect my position on the NHS waiting list?
No. This is a private therapeutic support programme and has no connection to your NHS referral. Accessing private support while on an NHS waiting list is common and does not change your position in the queue or affect any eventual assessment.
Is this therapy or coaching?
This is a therapeutic support programme delivered by qualified counsellors and psychotherapists. It draws on evidence-based approaches including CBT and ACT, and is not a diagnostic or coaching service.
Is the programme confidential?
Yes. Sessions are confidential. There are limited circumstances in which this may need to change — for example, if there is a serious risk of harm to you or others, or where we have a legal obligation to disclose. Your therapist will explain these limits clearly before you begin.
What happens after the four sessions?
There is no obligation to continue. If you would like ongoing support, individual ADHD counselling is available at our standard rate of £65 per session — with the same therapist where possible. You can discuss this during the programme or your free consultation.
