As well as Face-to-Face Counselling, CBT, Mindfulness (MBCT) and Coaching, Hope Therapy offers Mental Health, Wellbeing and Coaching Support via a Skye Network of qualified professionals called the ‘Hope Network’.

Why Use Online Therapy or Coaching?


Sometimes using on-line professionals can be the difference between having a generalist and a specialist practitioner who really understands you, your condition and your needs and is able to put together a bespoke approach purely for you.


The reasons why people use this service are varied, but can include such things as:

Does this really work?


Various studies have been done into various forms of online and video counselling which have found it to be effective:


A Canadian study looked at how effective video counselling was compared to face-to-face and reported:


“video counselling and in-person counselling had similar outcomes in regards to… rate of session helpfulness, pre and post counselling self-assessment, and rate of goal completion.”


A study in 2013 on Social Anxiety Disorder and online therapy showed:


  • 90% decrease in online fear and decreased avoidance of social situations.

  • 95% reported satisfaction with doing their therapy over the Internet.


“A 3 month follow-up found these positive results had maintained at a higher rate than studies than previously reported results for the same therapy done in person.”



An Australian study in 2014 also said:


“…clients felt at least as bonded with their therapist using video conference as those who had in person therapy.”

Skype, like one to one counselling, demands nothing but the highest level of ethical standards to be adopted. As such each counsellor will be bound to the very highest ethical standards as laid out by their professional body.


For those people who getting to a particular location may be challenging, simply prefer to engage in therapy from the comfort of your own home or are looking for a specialism that is hard to find, Skype and the Network offered by 'Hope' may be seen as a perfect solution for you.

As always, there is no minimum number of sessions, so you are able to work with a Counsellor or Therapist for as long or as short a period as you wish.
