Couples Counselling

It is common for many people in long term relationships, to experience periods of difficulty. This is true even of the most well suited of people. There are many reasons why this may be the case, such as bereavement, financial challenges, infidelity or stress.

However, challenges can also arise without warning and for seemingly no apparent reason. This can be due to a variety of reasons, such as communication challenges.

By making a mutual decision to come to counselling together, you are making a commitment to one another. This can often be seen as being the first step towards understanding each other’s needs and finding better and more effective ways of communicating with each other. Hope therapy offers a safe, non-judgemental, therapeutic environment, where you are able to discuss your thoughts, feelings and needs.

It can be common in couples work, that one or other partner either before or during couples work may engage in a period of one to one therapy. This is always a discussion point and is something that we can facilitate for you with one of our experienced and fully qualified counsellors.

Common issues that can be discussed in couples work include:

  • Communication issues.

  • Intimacy and trust.

  • Infidelity.

  • Domestic Violence and Abuse

  • Pre-marital concerns and expectations.

  • Jealousy.

  • Loss of libido.

  • Sex addiction.

  • Sexual Dysfunction e.g. Erectile Dysfunction, Vaginismus.

  • Love addiction.

  • Pornography addiction.

These are just a small list, of what is a much larger list of possibilities.

This is just a small part of a much larger list of things that can be discussed within relationship work. It is important to recognise that we are all individual and will therefore all have different needs.

We are entirely able to work with all types of sexual diversities, including Heterosexual, Bisexual, Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and other sexual diversity couples and individuals.

Hope Therapy offers both one to one, family and couples therapy depending upon your needs.

1.

Individual
Counselling

Most people at some point in their lives, will become stressed or feel that life is generally getting on top of them.

Whereas family and friends can be great at lending a listening ear, often it is important to speak to someone who offers a non-judgement and more professional approach. Someone who you know will hold whatever you say, with the utmost confidentiality.
